New Perimeter Security Manager Puts You In Control

It’s every security manager’s wish to have a perimeter security system that is perfectly integrated and operates seamlessly. One that allows all of your perimeter security devices to be controlled from a single source. Now, Southwest Microwave has a solution that puts you in control.

Southwest Microwave’s new Perimeter Security Manager is a security monitoring and control system that offers the ultimate in integration capabilities.

This new real-time, Windows-based system is perfect for facilities that are seeking to integrate and manage several perimeter security devices at a single location or multiple sites. With Perimeter Security Manager, you can monitor and control all of your microwave sensors, fence-tied intrusion detection systems, gates, CCTV cameras, Digital Video Recorders and even gates.

“We have software interfaces to most of the CCTV systems, DVRs and of course, the Southwest Microwave INTREPID product family,” says Bob Kirkaldie, Southwest Microwave’s Director of Sales and Marketing. “Perimeter Security Manager has the capability of monitoring your entire perimeter security system.”

Server Migrates. Data Stays Put.

In addition to being able to monitor multiple sites, the Perimeter Security Manager has a unique “migrating server” architecture that allows one or more workstations to become a backup master PC in the event that the master PC is disabled.

“This provides instantaneous backup just in case the main server crashes or loses power,” adds Kirkaldie. “This high reliability and redundancy is not available with other security management systems.”

Another substantial benefit of Southwest Microwave’s Perimeter Security Manager is the intuitive graphical user interface (GUI) and high-resolution graphics. The user-friendly display lets operators view a detailed, 2D site rendering with real-time active icons that clearly indicate the status and location of security system devices. These icons are actually shaped like the devices for quick visual recognition.

More Powerful Alarm Handling

“Using the INTREPID system, Perimeter Security Manager automatically controls CCTV cameras to point to the area of intrusion and provides automatic alarm activity logging,” says Kirkaldie. “The higher-level software interface is a lot faster and much more powerful than using more traditional alarm relay contacts—particularly with larger sites or multiple locations.”

The alarm logging capabilities of Perimeter Security Manager are quite impressive. Guesswork is eliminated by the sophisticated alarm handling system, which notifies the operator of an incident precisely when it occurs and provides pre-programmed alarm handling instructions for each type of alarm or action.

“When an alarm occurs, a screen pops up on the computer telling the operator exactly what to do,” Kirkaldie explains. “For example, if an alarm is triggered, it may prompt the operator to ‘call the police’ or ‘close gate number 3.’ This software also has the capability of creating an alarm event log for supervisors and managers so they can review exactly what happened and what action was taken by the operator after a particular event. This allows managers to make sure that correct procedures are being followed.”

Perimeter Security Manager allows plug-and-play integration of security devices, so modules are immediately recognized with no hardwiring required. The system can be controlled by a keyboard or optional touch-screen GUI.
